If there was any place you had to be this past weekend, then the Teen Choice Awards 2012 must have been it. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, the famous “Twilight” actors won big at the Teen Choice Awards 2012. But so did their fans!
Los Angeles’s Gibson Amphitheatre was packed with stars, fans and prizes Sunday night. It brought together today’s teenagers’ most popular actors. It goes without saying “Twilight”, “Hunger Games” and “Vampire Diaries” actors scored multiple prizes. Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale of “Glee” were the hosts of this festive 14th annual awards show.
It’s not exactly breaking news: “Twilight” actors are so popular and loved by teenagers today they took the Teen Choice Awards 2012 by storm. And their fans had the chance of a one-in-a-lifetime-moment. As Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were given their surf boards for their acting performances, the first had a great idea.
“I don’t know if I’m allowed to – can I give this to the audience?” said Robert Pattinson holding his surf board prize. Kristen Stewart immediately followed his lead, and they both made two “Twilight” fans insanely happy. 134 million people casted their votes and helped the “Twilight” saga round up the Teen Choice awards to more than 40.
But it wasn’t just the “Twilight” saga that ranked high with fans. TV series “The Vampire Diaries” received multiple Teen Choice awards, including one Choice TV Actor Sci-Fi/ Fantasy for Ian Somerholder, Choice TV Actress Sci-Fi/ Fantasy for Nina Dobrev and Choice Male TV Scene Stealer for Michael Treveno.
But raising star Josh Hutcherson also made a splash. “The Hunger Games” actor was awarded the Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi/ Fantasy. “I’ve always wanted to own my own surfboard, so now I have one. This is awesome!” said Hutcherson.
It wouldn’t be any Teen Choice Awards without Justin Bieber grabbing some trophy for his huge collection. He not only received Choice Male Artist, but performed “Boyfriend” and “As Long as You Have Me”. Justin Bieber thanked his fans and said he hopes “Believe” was “everything that you guys waited for”. “I hope you guys are playing it over and over again, and this is just a reminder to everybody in here: Believe. Thank you” said Justin Bieber.
