Several sources write that comedian and “30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan has been hospitalized during an awards ceremony at the Sundance Film Festival, after he fell unconscious. The cause is still unknown and doctors have ruled out alcohol and drug intoxication.
On Sunday, the hectic Tracy Morgan was attending the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards in Park City, during the Sundance Film Festival. Tracy was being honored with the Spotlight Initiative Award. After he delivered the acceptance speech, the comedian and actor collapsed and was then rushed to the hospital.
Apparently, Tracy was escorted outside the building by personnel with the security team when he just lost consciousness.
Early Monday, Lewis Kay, representative for Tracy Morgan, released a statement blaming the actor’s collapse on a tricky combination of fatigue and high altitude. “From a combination of exhaustion and altitude, Tracy is seeking medical attention…(…) Any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100 percent false”.
Loveable Tracy Morgan has been hospitalized to the Park City Medical Center where he was joined by his fiancé, model Megan Wollower. Park City Medical Center spokeswoman Amy Roberts confirmed that Tracy’s condition was not caused by drugs or alcohol consumption, based on what the medical evaluation has shown.
But, while both Tracy’s rep and the hospital’s spokeswoman say alcohol was not the cause, some sources told the Hollywood Reporter that the actor “was acting extremely inebriated, yelling and falling onto the ground”.
ABCnews.com writes that actor Cuba Gooding Jr. stated that Tracy is alright after checking out the news from the comedian’s friends.
Yesterday night, Tracy Morgan received Creative Coalition’s Spotlight Initiative Award. The Creative Coalition is a nonprofit organization that “educates and mobilizes leaders in the arts community on issues of public importance, specifically in the areas of First Amendment rights”.
This year, the award has been received by actress Kate Bosworth, actor and artist Common, actress AnnaLynne McCord and filmmaker Stacy Peralta.
Tracy co-stars “Predisposed” a film featuring Jesse Eisenberg and Melissa Leo and depicting the story of a college piano prodigy who tries to check his mother into rehab, but instead he is taken hostage by her drug dealer. From that point on, everything turns into a wild adventure. The movie, directed by Phil Dorling and Ron Nyswaner, can be watched during the Sundace Film Festival.
