Justin Timberlake, who recently got invited to the Marine Corps Ball in November by Kelsey De Santis, a Marine Corporal, says he accepts the invitation rather for a personal reason than an objective one. After encouraging friend actress Mila Kunis to go to the Ball with Sgt. “Scottie” telling her she has to do it “for the country”, the singer says when invited as well, because he found it flattering.
“I don’t get asked out… ever”, Justin confesses to Access Hollywood. “So I was very flattered by that” he added.
Last week, Corporal Kelsey De Santis uploaded a video request on YouTube, in which she asked pop icon Justin Timberlake to accompany her at the Marine Corps Ball in November as her date. She was very nervous while filming it, but at the end she joked saying that if he couldn’t make it, “all I can say is Cry Me A River”.
This came as an effect to what Justin had said a week before, when Friends With Benefits co-star Mila Kunis was first invited to the ball by a Marine Sergeant. She didn’t know how to react and Justin encouraged her to go. When she asked if he would come, too, he answered “They don’t want me, they want you”. So there you go! Now he is invited, as well.
Timberlake said he did not feel forced to accept the invitation. “I don’t feel backed into a corner at all,” he told Access Hollywood. He said he accepted the invitation, but not because he was flattered by the mentioning of his song or threatened by “all those beefcake military guys behind her”, as he put it. He was not sure about his schedule at the time but said that if he has the time, “I’d love to do it. It’s an honor”.
“And I hear that she’s trained in martial arts so I’m hoping that we can tousle at some point” he joked.
