When celebrities go for a drastic hairstyle change, it’s often an emotional event. Tia Mowry told Us Weekly she cried over her short pixie cut.
It looks like there’s a new hairstyle trend rising among celebrities: the pixie cut. Miley Cyrus, then Anne Hathaway, Lena Dunham and now Tia Mowry have all chopped their locks and went for a super-short pixie cut. Tia Mowry confessed she had a hard time letting go of her locks and has “definitely cried” over her new pixie cut.
Whereas Miley Cyrus’ pixie cut was a rebellious act meant to prove she’s not a child anymore, Tia Mowry’s hairstyle change is not about fashion or rebellion. The star of the BET series “The Game” has a lot on her plate and cutting her hair might just be a way of saving time. Tia Mowry-Housley is a first time mom working on ABC Family’s holiday movie Mistle-Tones, whereas her reality show “Tia & Tamera” is about to premiere on Style Network.
The 34-year-old told Us Weekly she had a hard time with her new pixie cut. “I cried! I’m just going to be honest with you, I definitely cried” Tia Mowry confessed. “I really wasn’t expecting the shock value” she added as people started asking for her advice when other women thought about chopping their locks.
“I said, ‘Don’t think about it because if you do you won’t do it.’ But it’s very liberating and it definitely saves time” Tia Mowry said about her super-short pixie cut. “I am so happy that I decided to cut my hair. It literally takes me three minutes to do my hair. I get out of the shower, put some conditioner in it, and it’s just let’s go and I love that” the 34-year-old actress added.
Since cutting her hair gives her more free time, Tia Mowry is planning to spend that with her first child, Cree Taylor, who was born June 28, 2011. And although Tia Mowry dropped that baby weight successfully, she was shocked to find that her “belly didn’t completely go down”. She even asked her doctor how come there are “so many women in the media flaunting their bodies 4 weeks after having a baby” and why her body hasn’t. “Tia, it takes up to a year” her doctor said. “So, I wish somebody would have been honest with me about that” the star concluded.
