The Pacquiao vs. Bradley Fight Angers Fans

On Sunday, the controversial decision regarding the Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight had reached the peak. Given that it was Manny Pacquiao’s first loss in seven years, many started asking for a third party investigation. The Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight angered fans and officials of the boxing world alike.

It was by far a decision that would send shock waves across the boxing world. The Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight was decided by judges, but fans didn’t like what they heard. Sunday, on the MGM Grand Garden Arena Timothy Bradley was ruled the winner of the fight in a split decision. It was judges CJ Ross and Duane Ford that had Bradley’s back (115 – 113), while Pacquiao was backed by Jerry Roth alone (115 – 113).

The MGM Grand Garden Arena was soon taken over by fans booing the split decision that allowed Timothy Bradley to win the fight with Manny Pacquiao. Promoter Bob Arum, who represents both fighters, says that the split decision in Sunday’s fight “is an international kind of story. There are people all over the world looking to blame somebody for this”.

Bob Arum told HBO’s Max Kellerman that the belief is that he tried to arrange Sunday’s fight to secure a rematch, before the upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather. The promoter said that this Monday he will talk to the attorney general of Nevada to look into the matter.

“This is such an incredible situation, something I’ve never seen in 47 years in boxing, that it requires an investigation”, said Bob Arum, “and you can’t rely on the [Nevada Athletic Commission] to conduct an investigation, because they’ll whitewash it”.

Meanwhile, Cameron Dunkin, Timothy Bradley’s trainer, said: “I thought it was very close and could’ve gone either way. And Tim got his hand raised. I certainly don’t think it was a travesty, a horrible worst decision I’ve ever seen”.

USA Today writes that Harold Lederman also found the split decision controversial. Lederman said that Nevada should “start bringing in judges from outside for high-profile fights”. “I could have given them 10 judges who would have scored that fight correctly. The Nevada commission…needs to bring in the three best people they can get from anywhere” added Lederman.

Everybody agrees that Sunday’s decision was the worst they’ve ever seen in the world of U.S. boxing. With all the controversy, the Nevada commission is expected to set things straight.

  1. The worst, very injustice decision ever in boxing history. The people that watched that fight were not satisfied of the result, they are not idiots. What they saw that night is what they believed.Nevada needs to do something about it if they want to maintain their reputation and for the people to still believe in boxing, otherwise people will lost their TRUST and INTEREST and they won’t spent their money or waste their time watching this injustice, corrupt boxing result.

It’s clearly a daylight robbery and people are angry not only in America but all over the world. Very unfair and injustice result. People are shouting for justice, they need to do something, investigate and do the right thing.

  2. i thought this really affected those boxing fanatics..people may not interested watching just because of injustice decision..its better to watched UFC either kickboxing..
i wiShed that treator will stopped making something not good inside any sports..

  3. Where were all you people when Pacquiou was benefiting from bad decisions? For example, all three Juan Manuel Marquez fights. JMM has been robbed, at least twice, and you people were all so happy about it. Frankly, I’m surprised and glad to see Pacquiou on the receiving end of boxing’s corruption this time. I didn’t think we’d ever see the day the judges didn’t give him the decision.

  4. Bradley looked like he wanted to dance rather than fight.I cannot stand the holding and hugging! fight already.Bradley reminded me of another Tyson. Will the ear be nexted?
