The “Drastically Different” New Bachelorette Season

The last season of “The Bachelorette” might have had you eating your nails throughout the drama and the hope your favorite contestant will find love. But as ABC’s Emily Maynard and Chris Harrison have announced, the new Bachelorette season is going to be “drastically different”.

ABC waited for seven or eight seasons before it had revamped a bit the show. They chose Emily Maynard, the 26 year old single mom looking for love. She was once about to marry Ricky Hendrick, the Nascar driver that passed away before their daughter Ricki was born. About six years later, Emily is ready to look for love again.

For the second time at “The Bachelorette”, single mom Emily Maynard comes to look for love. The first time at the show, she ended up as fiancée for once “Bachelor” Brad Womack.

Host Chris Harrison had a talk with reporters last week announcing a “Bachelorette” season that will be “drastically different”. In an interview with Reality TV World, explains that Emily Maynard is what makes the new season of “Bachelorette” so different. “The season is very different. The thing about Emily too is she’s not the ‘crazy, bungee jumping, sky diving’ type of woman. She is a southern gem who likes to wear high heels and dresses”.

Emily also announced that she’s not planning to kiss every guy and said she’d rather not have hot tubs pop up from nowhere. However, it’s likely that ABC will tone down a bit the show’s drama and intensity. It is for the first time that the show features a single mom so as Harrison explained that “changed the tone from Night 1”.

In fact, given that Emily Maynard is a single mom, the show’s producers decided to help her, by filming a part of “The Bachelorette” in Charlotte, the town where she and her daughter live. So, expect the new season to be a bit more serious, without the “frat house humor and the frat house drama”. As Chris Harrison explains: “Things have a much more serious tone and bigger issues. It’s not the superficial drama you’ve seen in seasons past”.

The new season of “The Bachelorette” premieres today.
