Jennifer Lopez is one of the latest stars to share a bad experience from her early days in the movie industry. The star claimed during a recent interview with Harper’s Bazar that a movie director had once asked her to take her shirt off and show her breasts.
The famous singer and actress revealed that the incident happened during the early days of her career. She also made it clear that she did not suffer the same type of abuse that many other women had to deal with in the movie industry. “I haven’t been abused in the way some women have,” the star explained. “But have I been told by a director to take off my shirt and show my boobs? Yes, I have. But did I do it? No I did not.”
The star did not reveal the name of the director involved or the name of the movie on which she was working when this had happened. However, she did say that she was scared to talk about what happened to her, as she believed that it might affect her career.
“When I did speak up, I was terrified,” she said. “I remember my heart beating out of my chest, thinking, ‘What did I do? This man is hiring me!’ It was one of my first movies,” the star went on to explain. Of course, talking about what happened to her was the right decision and Jennifer said that she did no regret it.
The famous singer claimed that she always knew in her mind that the behavior of the movie director was not okey. “But in my mind I knew the behavior was wrong,” she explained. “It could have gone either way for me. But I think ultimately the Bronx in me was like, ‘Nah, we’re not having it.’ ”
