Sony Sold 6 Million PlayStation 4s

Sony just announced that they sold more than 6 million PlayStation 4s until today. Actually, the sales figures revealed by Sony at this point were registered by the company until March 2.

The sales that Sony announced at this point are actually quite great, having under consideration the fact that the numbers are bigger than the target that Sony had.

This means that Sony managed to sell even better than what the company imagined.

Reports reveal that Sony wanted to sell about 5 million units by the end of March, but the company was able to achieve all that sooner.

In fact, at the beginning of March, Sony sold 6 million units, 1 million more than its target, almost one month earlier.

All these figures indicate that the PlayStation 4 enjoys a huge popularity in the United States, as well as in Western Europe and in Latin America. The great game console went on sale in Japan on February 22. PlayStation 4 was first launched about 4 months ago.

Only in Japan since its launch in February 22, the game console has sold in more than 370,000 units. Naturally, Sony is absolutely pleased with the results that its PlayStation 4 has registered in this country.

“The responses we have received for the PS4 system’s integrated social capabilities have been phenomenal, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that gamers are utilising these unique features to engage, share, play and connect with users around the world,” Andrew House said.

Moreover, it seems that Sony has in plans expanding the library of its PlayStation, adding innovative games, more features and more services.

And PS software sales are also registering great figures. Over 13.7 million copies sold in retail stores from all over the world, as well as through digital downloads. Currently, PlayStation 4 is available in 57 countries. The PlayStation mobile app has been downloaded 3.6 million times until now.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 battled Microsoft’s Xbox One. However, the Xbox was unable to reach the popularity and the sales of Sony’s device. The success that its game console has is vital for Sony, who struggled to remain a presence in the camera and TV market. Xbox One’s sales figures have not been released yet.
