James Bond movies have always been a mark of innovation and brilliant acting. Still, according to critics “Skyfall” is the best James Bond movie yet.
“Skyfall” isn’t just Daniel Craig’s third time playing agent 007 or the movie featuring Adele’s iconic voice. Critics are so thrilled about Sam Mendes’ directorial performance, that they called the “Skyfall” the best James Bond movie ever made.
The 23rd movie of the James Bond franchise features Daniel Craig trying to save MI6 from annihilation. It’s definitely the ultimate action movie, having everything from thrilling chases across the world, to a flamboyant villain, humor and a James Bond character more confident and intense like never before.
Kate Muir from the Times was so impressed with “Skyfall” that she described it to be “a great British bulldog of a movie”. “From the moment the orchestral sound of Adele belts out, sending a nostalgic shiver down the audience’s collective spine, we know this will be a triumphant return to classic Bond” Kate Muir writes.
Geoffrey McNab from The Independent agrees that “Skyfall” is the best James Movie ever made, giving the character a full remake. “[Sam] Mendes has gone to basics: chases, stunts, fights” writes McNab. “At the same time, he has subtly re-invented the franchise, throwing in far greater depth of characterization than we’re accustomed to in a series of films that are often proudly superficial” he adds.
Javier Bardem was also highly praised for his part as flamboyant villain Silva. McNab feels that Bardem “combines pathos, grotesquerie and a Hannibal Lecter-like viciousness”. “He is not a villain in pursuit of world domination like Ernst Blofeld, and he is slightly upstaged by his own hair but he never fails to surprise” McNab adds.
Todd McCarthy from the Hollywood Reporter saw “Skyfall” and described it as a “beautifully made film” that “will certainly be embraced as one of the best Bonds by loyal fans worldwide”.
The latest James Bond movie is set to premiere in the United States on November 9, but UK viewers will get the chance to see it first (October 23).
