It’s been rumored for a while, but as of Wednesday it became official: Shakira and Gerard Piqué will have a baby!

Shakira and Gerard Piqué have met in 2010, but it wasn’t until early last year they confirmed they were dating. For the past few months, rumors about Shakira being pregnant went viral, but the luscious songstress had no comment, until this Wednesday that is. Shakira is pregnant with boyfriend Gerard Piqué’s baby and she is literally on her way to become the sexiest mom ever.

Shakira confirmed she is pregnant via her official website. “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby” reads Shakira’s statement. “At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days” the artist added.

Unfortunately for some of Shakira’s fans, the news about her pregnancy means cancelling a big event. “This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival…I’d like to thank Clear Channel and my fans for their constant love and understanding. Big kiss! And will see you very soon” wrote Shakira on her website.

Although Shakira didn’t specify how far along she’s pregnant or the sex of the baby, sources tell Huffington Post Shakira and Gerard Piqué are expecting a baby boy. In August, a report from the Huffington Post claimed Shakira was then already four months pregnant and well aware of the sex of the baby.

So, although people are excited Shakira and Gerard Piqué will have a baby, some fans might feel a bit betrayed by their idol canceling an event one week before the set date. It makes it a bit harder to understand why Shakira waited for so many months before revealing she was pregnant. Particularly since the media already had the scoop on that.

Earlier this week, NBC announced Shakira and Usher will be the next coaches on “The Voice”, replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. “Thanks for your affectionate messages & good vibes! I’m so excited to be a part of #TheVoice next to such talented colleagues” Shakira reacted on Twitter after NBC announced its news.
