Lady Gaga has 30 million Twitter followers. She is literally the most popular star on the internet and has more followers than any politician. Lady Gaga sparks controversy, that’s no breaking news. That’s what she does. But for one New York politician it was Lady Gaga’s weird outfits, hair due or parties. A politician called Lady Gaga a slut for smoking pot onstage.
Well, you know what they say, when in Amsterdam…Lady Gaga had a concert in Amsterdam earlier this month, when she was gifted with a joint from her audience. Smoking pot is legal in Amsterdam, so no legal harm was done there. Lady Gaga lighted the joint, took one puff and then passed it along. For a Gotham man of politics that brief moment smoking pot onstage is what makes Lady Gaga a slut.
Before smashing down Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro on Twitter for calling the Monster Queen a slut, wait a minute. The man is 81 years old and seemed truly concerned he couldn’t understand why his teenage granddaughters love Lady Gaga so much. Plus back in his days only sexual workers would don so much color, spark that much controversy and come off as blunt. And that’s Gaga for you, today.
It was Monday, at an event for an anti-drug program in Staten Island, when the 81-year-old politician slashed out at Lady Gaga. “We have to understand that there’s tremendous influence with our youth, which I didn’t have as a youth. And there’s the influence right here. Stop glorifying the drug use” the New York politician said.
“There’s Gaga…Here’s this…this…I would call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children” said Molinaro near a poster of the singer smoking a joint. Then he seemed confused trying to figure out why his teenage granddaughters “love this woman”. “To me, she’s not an actress, she’s a slut…in the pure meaning of the word” he added.
His harsh critic had a lot of people angered. The politician then explained for The New York Times he was trying to emphasize Lady Gaga’s improper conduct by calling her a slut. “Now, isn’t it improper for someone who is so high profile to be smoking reefer in front of children?” he added.
