PlayStation 4 is the Best-Selling Console

PlayStation 4 managed to beat Xbox One, being the best-selling console at the moment. It has been revealed that the sales of Sony’s device have actually been double compared to what the Microsoft product managed to achieve.

However, even though PlayStation 4 sales have been better than the ones of Xbox, overall the video game market seems to have registered a decrease when it comes to sales. Video games sales have been lower compared with last year, so apparently the popularity of such products is decreasing.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 is the best-selling console in the month of January, as statistics reveal. The new statistics were released by research firm The NPD Group. The data was made public this Thursday, indicating that sales have grown for Sony’ impressive product.

The data reveals that sales actually increased with up to 17 percent, reaching $241 million in the first month of 2014, compared to the figures registered for the same period, last year. PlayStation was the console who dominated these sales, its success being undeniable.

However, this does not mean that the Xbox One did not managed to do well when it comes to sales. It followed PlayStation 4, to occupy the second place in sale statistics in January.

Still, some analysts claim that the performance of Xbox One was disappointing. The sales of PlayStation 4 were almost double compared to the ones registered for the device created by Sony.

However, when it comes to video game sales, the market is not doing that great. It seems that there actually was no growth on this segment, but in fact the numbers decreased. The total sales of physical games decreased with 21 percent compared to last year.

Digital downloads, used games, as well as social networking games and rentals are not included in this figure. This means that customers spend much more on games than the figures indicate for physical purchases. From this point of view, games sales might have decreased with just 1 percent.

The best-selling games in January have been Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Grand Theft Auto V, As well as NBA 2K14 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
