John McAfee is one tech mogul with a life so intense someone is definitely going to make a crazy action movie after. Chances are it’s going to be John McAfee directing, acting and producing. Anyway, the tech mogul is still on the run and from what he’s telling CNN he has “no interest” in returning to U.S., instead he’s fleeing to Guatemala.
For the past few years, tech mogul John McAfee lived an eccentric life in Belize, where he soon became known as a crazy old man (he is 67 years old), a bit too clingy when it came to his property, dogs, young women and designer drugs. In November, John McAfee’s life got to be just as exciting as an action movie, involving murder, disguises and an international escape route.
After On November 11th, John McAfee’s neighbor was found shot to death, the anti-virus mogul became a fugitive, although the police isn’t even thinking about him as a suspect. That hasn’t stopped 67-year-old John McAfee from fleeing to other countries and even wearing disguises to avoid being recognized. The fugitive fled to Guatemala, where he plans to seek asylum to escape what he calls Belize’s police persecution. Returning to the United States isn’t on John McAfee’s agenda.
“I have a passport. I am in no trouble with the U.S. I can return any time I like” John McAfee told CNN this Tuesday evening in an interview taken in Guatemala. “I have been back to America many times since I have been in Belize. I have no interest of going this month or next, but I can come and go freely to America any time I want” the billionaire added.
As for his decision to move to Guatemala, John McAfee says this is a country with a legal system superior to that in Belize. Plus “Guatemala is close, it is beautiful and most importantly, I enjoy the company of Guatemalans”.
In the meanwhile, Belize officials are still looking forward to questioning John McAfee about the killing, although they are a bit surprised of the lengths the tech mogul went through to avoid the conversation. “He’s really gone out of his way to make the country look bad, and we just believe he should, if he’s innocent as he’s saying he is he should bring in his lawyer, and let’s get to the bottom of this” said Raphael Martinez, spokesman for the Police Department of Belize.
