Norwegian Court Finds Mass Killer Breivik Sane To Be Sent To Prison

The trial of the Norwegian mass killer has finally come to an end. The Norwegian court found Anders Behring Breivik sane enough to be sent to prison. The mass murderer will face the Norway maximum possible penalty.

Breivik is responsible for ruthlessly killing 77 people and injuring 200 more. So, Breivik was sent to prison. Today, the court dismissed the prosecution call for Breivik’s mental sanity. He is not mad at all, so the Norwegian mass killer will fully suffer the consequences of his carnage. That’s 21 years of prison, the highest sentence in Norway.

Last year, the 33-year-old murderer blew a bomb in the government headquarters, instantly killing 8 people. A shooting rampage followed shortly, killing 69 others at a summer youth camp. He admitted every killing, and surrendered without a fight. That was the bloodiest day of Norway since World War II.

Breivik never showed any sign of remorse.”I stand by what I have done and I would still do it again.” he said during his court testimony. He just claimed that all his victims were brainwashed Marxists and Islamic activists that corrupted the ethnic purity of Norway. He entered the courtroom dressed in a black suit and gave his clenched-fist salute when his cuffs were removed.

After the 5 judges read the verdict, he just smirked with satisfaction. The decision that rules Breivik sane to be sent to prison will not be appealed. “He told me he will accept this verdict,” GeirLippestad, Breivik’s lawyer told Reuters.

With this verdict, Breivik got what he wanted. That’s a decision that paints him as a political terrorist instead of a psychotic mass killer. “He has always seen himself as sane so he isn’t surprised by the ruling”, said Lippenstad. For Breivik, an insane verdict would have been “a fate worse than death”.

Although Norwegians are still shocked, they seem to be pleased by the decision. “He is getting what he deserves,” stated Alexandra Peltre, 18, whom Breivik shot in the thigh. “This is karma striking back at him. I do not care if he is insane or not, as long as he gets the punishment that he deserves” Alexandra Peltre added.

Breivik was sent to prison in isolation Ila Prison on the outskirts of Oslo.
