Change comes whether you want it or not, and when it does it would be best to simply accept it and move along. That’s not exactly what Nigel Barker, recently fired from “America’s Next Top Model” has in mind, even if he admits it was the network’s revamp strategy that lead to the decision. Along with Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and one other longtime co star have also been fired from “America’s Next Top Model”.
For the past 18 cycles, Nigel Barker has been the resident photographer of the jury on “America’s Next Top Model”, a job that brought him many perks. Although he doesn’t seem quite ready yet to put it in the past, Nigel Barker already has a plan for the future of his career. Nigel Barker is preparing for a fresh start with a line of cosmetics for men and launching his very own series.
“It wasn’t a shock”, told Nigel Barker to reporters from E! News. Apparently the network has been discussing it for a while now, as it was looking for ways to pump up audience. “There had been a discussion that ratings were down and that something like this would happen” explained Nigel Barker and added that he’d managed to survive such discussions for years, until eventually being eliminated from the show.
But even if Nigel Barker understands the purpose of the network’s decision, he doesn’t think their revamp strategy is the most appropriate. In fact, Nigel Barker believes it was a mistake to fire him and the other two longtime co-stars.
Barker told TMZ that he doesn’t think the network’s decision was a good idea and he has doubts the strategy will work. “Who knows if this is going to work? Maybe it will work. Maybe it won’t. I wish them luck”. But mentioned: “I would imagine it’s a tricky thing to replace someone who’s going on their 19th season. Good luck to whoever”.
In the end, with Barker free of the constraining contract with “America’s Next Top Model” he seems very open to new projects. He has already started looking for scripts and projects that need a producer and a director. Barker said:
“My contract was so exclusive that it was holding me back from other projects. I’m looking very much forward to creating my own show”.
