Although some might argue against Nicki Minaj’s actual vocal skills, as a performer she is great at drawing attention. And that’s just great for bringing the ratings for “American Idol”. A new report from Us Weekly basically confirms Nicki Minaj is going to be the next “American Idol” judge.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter was writing Nicki Minaj is in negotiations to join Mariah Carey as judge on “American Idol”. Today, Us Weekly has two sources confirming last Friday’s report. From the looks of it, Nicki Minaj is going to be the next “American Idol” judge.  But before haters start arguing against, Fox hasn’t released any official comment on the report.

Us Weekly reports Nicki Minaj is “100 percent confirmed to judge ‘American Idol’”. Two sources told the magazine Nicki Minaj “is definitely doing it”. “A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening” said one source.

It’s been such a long casting for the new judges on the Fox’s show that it feels almost like the next season of “American Idol” just happened. The drama of the old judges leaving the show and then the insanely numerous reports about celebrities in negotiations for the open spots might well be just a bit overwhelming.

Nicki Minaj is just the latest celebrity reported to be in negotiations for an “American Idol” judge gig. And she’s not even the most popular name on that list. Enrique Iglesias, Pharrell Williams, Keith Urban and Nick Jonas have also been reported to have been contacted by the show’s producers.

But whereas Fox hasn’t confirmed anything yet, Nicki Minaj does seem to be in line with producers’ reported new guidelines on choosing a judge. They need an “American Idol” judging panel that will be able to bring back the ratings.
