She’s without a doubt a supermom and one of America’s most loved actresses. In an interview with Essence magazine for its August issue, Nia Long talked about the scrutiny she’s been facing for not tying the knot. In fact, according to the interview, Nia Long is not getting married just now. 

Nia Long and Ime Udoka have been together for what it seems like ages now. The 41-year-old actress and mother of two recently had a talk with Essence magazine about her priorities and it looks marriage is not in top five. 

The once “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star explained she’s been taking notice of criticism from her fans about her not getting married. Nia Long says it’s hard to make it a priority since she has “never seen a marriage work” but that doesn’t mean it will never happen. “I’m not saying I’ll never do it; It’s just not where we are as a family” explains the actress.

“I’ll be at home with my man, having a perfectly loving time, and I’ll see all these comments on some site about how wrong I am for not being married” she explained the magazine. “I don’t feel less loved or less loving because I’m not married” said the mother of two.

Of her being a mom and still making time for a career, Nia Long told Essence: “Motherhood is not easy, but it’s natural. I worked hard to have the career I wanted, but I’ve also been deliberate about my personal life. None of this is a mistake”.

The upcoming issue of Essence also features Nia Long talking about her relationship with the father of her first child. It’s been a troubled time for the couple, but Nia Long said she’s been trying to patch it up and it looks like things between them are better now after having “the most challenging times”.

“But we’ve arrived at a place where I can truly say he’s not a baby daddy, he’s my friend, finally. He is an amazing father” she told Essence magazine about her eldest son’s father.
