Disney released a new picture which portrays Angelina Jolie as the Maleficent character of the well- known story Sleeping Beauty.
According to Us Weekly, the actress is almost unrecognizable with the makeup and the clothes of the villain. The 37-year-old actress ditched the secret agent look to play the part of an unusual character, the Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.
A special costume was designed for the actress to look like the “Mistress-of-All-Evil”, as the fictional character likes to call herself.
Thus, Angelina Jolie will be able to wear her favorite gown: a long loose-fitting black dress hopefully with a side split. Although the outfit is rather similar to Jolie’s wardrobe, there are several new elements in the photo, such as the black horns that were custom made for the actress.
Judging by the looks of the picture, the mother of six will be wearing green contact lenses throughout the whole movie.
In addition, her cheek bones appear to be more protruding than they normally are, so the actress might have resorted to the same implants that singer Lady Gaga used in the video “Born This Way”. Nevertheless, this is just a personal opinion as the company did not make any statements in relation to Jolie’s costume. The production of the movie began on June 13 and most of the sequences will be filmed in England at the Pinewood Studios.
Based on the press release, the image was taken from the scene where Maleficent’s heart is hardened and she curses the princess. The protagonist of the film, Aurora or Sleeping Beauty is interpreted by Elle Fanning.
It has always been a pleasure for Angelina Jolie to star in animated movies, especially now that she has become a mom and she wants her children to be proud of her. She declared in a March interview that the script of the animated classic is really interesting and that she had a lot of fun reading it.
Jolie further added that her kids were happy to hear their mom will play Maleficent. They will, thus look at the story from a different perspective and maybe realize that a person who is aggressive is not necessarily deprived of other warmer qualities, she concluded.
