New ‘Batman’ Video Game Expected This Fall

Warner Bros. Interactive announced on Wednesday that a new “Batman” video game will be launched this fall. The prequel entitled ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ is expected to be introduced on the market on October 25, according to a recent report published by CNET News.

The negative reactions that the movie “The Dark Knight” has caused from fanatics didn’t seem to prevent developers at Warner Bros. from preparing the launching of a new Batman-inspired video game. ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ will be launched on October 25 and will be compatible with all the main video game consoles, including PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

The action of the upcoming video game is set several years before “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and “Batman: Arkham City”. As a matter of fact, at the beginning of the game, the protagonist is a “young and unrefined” Batman, who gradually evolves into the “Dark Knight” we have grown accustomed to in the past years.

The first two games were created by Rocksteady Studios, but the new version will be edited by the Warner Bros. Games Montreal Studio, who has taken over all the development duties. The creative designer of ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ has worked as the lead designer for reputed action titles, such as, the “Prototype” and “The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction”.

There will be a version for every video game console that is now popular among players. Warner Bros. further revealed that they plan to create a handheld version of Batman for Nintendo 3DS, as well. This title will be produced by developers working at Armature Studio, great part of the team being responsible for the creation of the “Metroid Prime” franchise.

Warner Bros. has great expectations for the new Batman title. Developers are convinced that the video game will be very popular among players, judging by the huge success that the franchise has registered, so far. 4,6 million copies of “Batman: Arkham City” were shipped in the first week after its launch in 2011, twice the rates registered by “Arkham Asylum”. No other details have been revealed about the game, except the fact that Deathstroke will be one of the villains appearing in this year’s action title.
