The fact that Princess Diana was one of the most loved monarchs gives her additional reasons to fear that her interpretation may not live up to the public’s expectations.

Although she bears a striking resemblance with the late British royal, Naomi still expects people to complain about her looks. More than 15 years have passed since Diana died and yet people still honor her memory because of the great impact she made on them. Playing such a complex character is even more difficult when you take into account the two boys who have lost their mom at a young age, the actress added.

Despite her fears, Naomi is determined to do justice to Diana’s memory and to tell her story truthfully. Based on the photos taken on the set of the movie, it is safe to assume that director Oliver Hirschbiegel made a good choice when naming the blonde-haired and blue-eyed actress for the role of Princess Diana. Reporters have compared the more recent pics with the ones taken in the past and Naomi Watts and Princess Diana are like two peas in a pod.

The British actress recalled she was filming a movie in Canada when she first heard the news that Princess Di passed away in a car crash. She and her co-stars were so impressed with the royal’s violent death that they all started crying.

The movie, which revolves around Diana’s much-discussed relationship with Dodi Fayed, is the first to feature A-list actors and directors. “Diana” will be released at the beginning of 2013.
