The Golden Globe-winning actress, Michelle Williams opened up about her romance with late actor Heath Ledger in a recent interview for the GQ magazine. The actress confessed that it was very hard for her and especially for her six-year-old daughter to cope with the actor’s death.
Michelle Williams met Ledger while the two were filming for “Brokeback Mountain” in 2005. She described the circumstances of their first meeting as “cosmic”. Even though their romance only lasted for three years, Williams has a six-year-old daughter, Matilda with Ledger.
Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment in 2008. The incident took place a month after the two separated. Doctors said the cause of his death was the accidental overdose of prescription medication.
Williams’ relationship with Ledger evolved in a short period of time and this is how they managed to accomplish so many things in three years. The actress told reporters at GQ magazine that she never thought she would end up dating Ledger, but the scenario was one of her favorite things to imagine.
Heath’s death was one of the most difficult situations that Michelle had to deal with. The press had its share of contribution because reporters constantly followed her after the incident. Given these circumstances, Williams was forced to find a way to deal with the dreadful event and a way to get rid of the press waiting at her doorstep. In addition, the “My Week With Marilyn” star had to protect her little girl.
The “Dawson’s Creek” actress tried to get involved in other relationships after her ex-partner’s death, but she realized she wasn’t ready to make this step. As a consequence, she decided to focus on her child and accept the fact that Matilda will never have any brothers or sisters.
Michelle Williams earned an Oscar nomination for her part in “Brokeback Mountain”. After filming “Shutter Island”, she took a break from the movie industry, but she returned to film “Blue Valentine” which brought her another Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. This year, the actress was rewarded with a Golden Globe for her performance in “My Week With Marilyn”.
