McDonald’s Turns To Vegetarian Fast-Food

Never thought this is going to happen, did you? Well as shocking as it seems, it’s true, McDonald’s turns to vegetarian fast-food. How healthy is it going to be, we’re just going to have to wait and see.

It’s going to happen more often than you’d imagine. Fast food chains will begin introducing more and more vegetarian products as the demand increases. But for now, this doesn’t mean good old Mc is going to stop selling and producing the well known burgers and other said delicious treats.

The vegan McDonald’s menu is destined only for two specific locations in India. Why are these places so special and nobody else in the world has the chance to eat healthy at McDonald’s you ask?

Well, these places are special for Indians because they’re well known pilgrimage sites for Hindus and Sikhs. A spokesman from McDonald’s India highlighted this idea saying: “a vegetarian store makes absolute sense in the places which are famous as pilgrimage sites”.

And more than half of the Indian inhabitants are vegetarians so this made McDonald’s to open its first vegetarian restaurant. It’s also a great way to improve the company’s image when it comes to obesity. In India, statistics say that one in six men is overweight. So a potato based McAloo Tikki burger might not be that bad after all.

McDonald’s will open its first vegetarian restaurant next year near the Golden Temple in India. It’s a decision that makes perfect sense. It’s both profitable and an amazing opportunity for a vegetarian fast food chain. In India alone there are more than 270 profile restaurants bringing in a lot of money, in a country where $1 is the daily budget.

This is not the first time when the world’s second-largest fast food makes special offers for India alone. Considering that more than half of the people who live in India are Muslims or Hindus, and reject pork or beef, they made special menus without these types of meat.

Hopefully the concept proves to be a success, so McDonald’s goes vegetarian in more than two specific places in the world. It would be a great way to deal with obesity seeing as unhealthy fast-food is a great issue nowadays.
