Kenny G, the American jazz artist, will end his 20-year marriage with wife Balynda Benson-Gorelick. The couple first filed for separation in January, but the case has not proceeded, so G filed the papers one more time on Thursday, according to a recent report published by E!Online.
Kenny G, on his real name, Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, has been married to Balynda Benson-Gorelick for almost 20 years. In the past years, however, their relationship has been on the rocks, so the famous jazz artist has decided to put an end to his marriage. The announcement was made on Monday, several days after the divorce papers were filed. This is not the first time that the couple tried to separate. They also went to court in January, but the case was not started.
Based on the information found on the divorce papers, G blames irreconcilable differences for his separation. The two have two kids together, Max and Noah, but only Noah, 14, is underage, so the former partners will fight over his custody. G has already expressed his wish to obtain joint legal and physical custody over the minor child, but judges will decide, depending on his soon-to-be former wife’s requests.
Kenny’s fortune amounts to $48 million, but the two have already agreed to divide their money and their assets according to the provisions of the prenuptial contract. Moreover, the 56-year-old saxophonist claims he and his wife should both be responsible for their legal fees because G doesn’t want to pay his estranged wife spousal support.
Balynda’s legal requests remain unknown for the moment as reporters were unable to read her files. Even so, it is believed that her demands will be just as big as the ones of G considering that they have been together for so long.
Kenny G has been a solo artist in the past years making various appearances on television shows and films. In 1993, he won a Grammy Award for his song “Forever In Love”.
Sad to know. All the best to both of them.
