Keith Urban is in recovery from undergoing a throat surgery. The country singer had to go through throat surgery in order to have a polyp removed from his vocal cord. The procedure took place at the beginning of last week and was successful, according to the statement of a spokesman for the artist.
More precisely, the surgery was performed on Tuesday and left Urban prevented from speaking for the following three weeks. The artist is recovering at a location kept secret from the public, Paul Freundlich declared to Reuters.
Before his procedure the singer posted a video on his website wanting to thank all his fans for their support through this unfortunate period. “I can’t express enough my gratitude to you guys; it feels like family”, he said.
The singer received a lot of gifts from his fans during the period prior to his surgery designed to help him get through the recovery period. These included cards, presents, flowers and a basket of items created precisely for the recovering period such as handmade notes that he can hold up when he needs something since he isn’t allowed to talk.
Urban made an announcement at the beginning of November letting his fans know he had to postpone some of his shows in light of his health issues. His polyp appeared during his latest tour “Get Closer World Tour 2011”. In his video he thanked all of his fans who attended his shows throughout an year he considered both crazy as well as phenomenal.
Each of his shows part of the tour were heartwarming as the audience sang along with him on old and new songs alike. “Personally I had an incredibly great time and I was sad to see it end”, he added during his video.
Recently, several other artists have had health issues related to their vocal cords. Last month, British pop artist Adele underwent a similar procedure as well as Paul Stanley, the lead singer of Kiss.
