Her love life might be in a jam right now, but carrier wise Katy Perry is doing incredibly well. A report says Katy Perry Turned Down “American Idol” producers offering her $20 million to join Mariah Carey on the judge panel.
For the past few months, the entire media has been keeping a close eye on the “American Idol”’s quest for the season 9 judges. Fans suffered the drama of losing Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, but things seem to have worked for the best, when Fox announced Mariah Carey will join the show as judge. Since then, reports have been hinting a number of celebrities are in negotiations for a similar deal.
Katy Perry is just the latest celebrity to join the list of potential “American Idol” judges. A report from TMZ says that Katy Perry turned down “American Idol” even if producers offered her $20 million for one year as judger. Mariah Carey only got $18 million, so she’s likely having a hissy fit right now.
According to TMZ’s insider, “American Idol” producers “pursued Perry relentlessly for weeks, eager to her to sign on the dotted line”. The source told TMZ negotiations with Katy Perry originally started at $18 million but they “threw even more cash on the table…$20 MILLION for a one year contract”.
Us Weekly has a similar report about Katy Perry being offered a judge seat on “American Idol”. A source told the magazine Katy Perry “was being hotly pursued. They really wanted her”.
Whereas most celebrities will take on a judge gig on “American Idol” without thinking twice, the report reads that Katy Perry simply didn’t feel that was the right career choice. In an interview, the “Wide Awake” singer had with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this summer, Perry explained why she’s not all that excited about being a judge for “American Idol”.
“People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet” she told The Hollywood Reporter in July.
Whereas Katy Perry turned down “American Idol”, according to reports there are many other celebrities in the game. Nick Jonas, Keith Urban, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have all been rumored to be in negotiations with the show’s producers.
