Although O.J. Simpson is currently doing time for an armed robbery and kidnapping, Kato Kaelin says his gut tells him there might be other crimes too. Kato Kaelin told TMZ O.J. Simpson is guilty of double murder.
When O.J. Simpson was first on trial for the killing of his ex-wife and her friend, Kato Kaelin achieved the status of a semi-celebrity. More than 18 years ago, Kato Kaelin was called to testify about the happenings of the June 1994 killings, O.J. Simpson was the main suspect in. Almost two decades later, Kato Kaelin says his gut tells him O.J. Simpson was actually guilty.
It looks like the craving for fame eventually caught up on Kato Kaelin. Over the past few days, Kato Kaelin, now 53, has been getting media attention for saying he now feels safe stating he really thinks O.J. Simpson killed his ex-wife and her friend.
In a statement for New York Post reporter Cindy Adams, Kato Kaelin said: “The statue of limitations has now passed…so I can now say…yes he did it”. When asked why he didn’t tell the truth in the first place, Kato Kaelin said he “was too scared”, “terrified”. “So, do I feel he’s guilty? Yes, but can I prove it? No. And that’s what happened in the court of law” Kato Kaelin added of the O.J. Simpson murder trial.
On “Good Morning America” Kato Kaelin defended himself for not telling the truth in the first trial. “I’m not the reason O.J. Simpson is innocent from the first trial” Kato Kaelin argued. “I’m not at all, there’s prosecutors, there’s witnesses. I said I think he’s guilty and I said it many, many times. They cannot prove it. The jury said he’s innocent” he concluded.
As an actual part of the O.J. Simpson murder trial, Kato Kaelin doesn’t actually bring anything new to the table. All he is saying is that he was just too scared to tell the jury his take. But it might well be Kato Kaelin is now opening up about the killings only to get some media focus. In fact, it might come up as breaking news, but he has his own sports show, called “Tailgating with Kato”.
