This year, Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley jumped to position 47 in Zimbo’s 100 Hottest Couples list. The couple already has an adopted daughter Naleigh, but Katherine Heigl’s dream to have a family is larger than that. Josh Kelly and Katherine Heigl adopted a second baby girl.
Naleigh has been with Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley for three years now. She was adopted from South Korea back in 2009. As confirmed by a rep for the former “Grey’s Anatomy” actress, now Naleigh has a sister or a brother, also adopted.
The rep gave People a pretty plain statement, but at least the news was confirmed: “Yes, they have adopted a baby. No further details at this time”. So, at least for now, we don’t have any inside scoop regarding the new baby’s country of origin or gender. However, the National Enquirer does claim the couple has adopted a baby girl born in Louisiana.
Age 33, Katherine Heigl seems to have always wanted to be a mom. She married singer/songwriter Josh Kelley in 2007, and ever since then both have been discussing the possibility to expand their family. In fact, as Heigl once said she and Josh were talking kids even before the engagement.
In February, Katherine had an interview with Scholastic Parent & Child. She told them her sister Meg is Korean and her parents had adopted three years before they had her. The actress added she wishes her family would resemble the one she came from, so adopting Naleigh was on the list.
“We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first” confessed Katherine. But as Katherine added back then, the thought of adoption remained. “I just wanted to be a mom. So however we did that, it’s fine with me. I’d like to adopt again” she told the magazine.
The actress’ determination to adopt again might be a little surprising given one of her recent statements about the difficulty of connecting with an adopted child. “I fought incredibly hard for my daughter to accept me as mother. Her rejection almost broke my heart” said Katherine Heigl talking about the bond between mother and daughter.
