The father of famous late singer Michael Jackson, Joe Jackson has suffered a stroke. It has been revealed that he currently is in hospital, but he remains in critical condition. The news was made public through a statement from the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo.
Allegedly, Joe was admitted in the medical facility on Sunday afternoon. He is under treatment in the intensive care unit. The statement also indicated that Jackson was suffering from irregular heartbeat. The father of Michael Jackson was actually visiting Brazil to celebrate his birthday. Joe turned 87, but unfortunately the health issue made it impossible for him to attend his own party or celebrate the occasion.
No other details were revealed about his condition, so it remains unknown when Joe will be released from hospital. The stroke was associated with cardiac arrhythmia.
Joe Jackson has always been a famous name in the music industry, mostly because of his children. However, he also managed to create some controversies. Joe Jackson was the manger of his sons’ musical group, the Jackson 5. The group was widely popular in the 1960s, and the Jacksons 5 actually were a huge success. This meant a huge fame for Joe, too.
However, it has been claimed that despite that, Joe has always been quite abusive towards his family. Michael was the one who opened up about his father’s behavior, back in 1993. In fact, Michael and Joe have never been close and maybe Michael’s childhood memories of his father were a factor in that. So, Michael claimed that during his childhood, he would sometimes get sick or vomit with nerves upon seeing his father.
Well, it seemed that Michael had reasons to feel that way. Joe admitted during an interview that he actually whipped his son as a child. “I whipped him with a switch and a belt. I never beat him. You beat someone with a stick,” Joe claimed. Actually, at the time of Michael’s death, Joe and his son were estranged. Michael wasn’t the only one who revealed that his father had an abusive behavior while growing up. His other children have also talked about this. However, Joe claimed that he was happy he was a tough parent.
