Even though she appears to be one of the happiest moms in Hollywood, Jennifer Lopez admitted during a recent interview with the Redbook that she suffered from baby blues. The singer found it very hard to bond with the kids during that brief period and thought they hated her.
The powerful depression that women experience soon after they give birth is commonly known as ‘baby blues’. Despite the efforts that doctors make to prevent ‘baby blues’ from occurring, it seem that many more women suffer from it. Such was the case of Jennifer Lopez who confessed in a recent interview that she felt very sad and depressed shortly after she gave birth to her lovely 4-year-old twins, Max and Emme.
Lopez further stated that she felt very strange for about seven to 10 days. She thought the babies didn’t like her and this made her very sad. The 42-year-old diva wouldn’t recognize herself, so she decided to get Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel’s book “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” to find out what was wrong with her. Little did she know that she will, later on, star in the movie that is based on the same book.
Jennifer was very pleased with the book because thanks to it, she found out things that she didn’t know about pregnancy. Thus, she understood that women go through a big hormonal drop after they give birth and this causes them to get depressed.
The sad days have long been forgotten and now, Jennifer Lopez is very proud to have two beautiful kids. She might get a little tired sometimes, but she manages to recharge her batteries with a relaxing bath. The singer likes to lie in the bathtub for nearly 20 minutes each morning to gather enough energy for the rest of the day because she finds it very exhausting to juggle the twins with her career. Even so, she believes being a mother is one of the most beautiful things that could have happened to her because it has made her a better person.
