The organizers of the MTV Movie Awards announced this year’s nominations and it looks like “Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids” will battle against each other in the upcoming edition. The two movies received 8 nominations on Tuesday, whereas “The Twilight Saga” didn’t manage to gather more than two nods.
Judging by the recent MTV Movie Awards nominations, it looks like “The Twilight Saga” is no longer the favorite film of the moment. Its leading place was taken instead by “The Hunger Games” which made $600 million since its release at the beginning of the year. Although there have been voices criticizing the motion picture, “The Hunger Games” received nods for the categories of movie of the year and best cast. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson were nominated the best actress and, respectively, best actor, whereas Liam Hemsworthwas nominated for the breakthrough performance category.
The “Bridesmaids” were equally appreciated, so they received the same number of nods as the previously mentioned action movie. The most important nominations were for the category of best movie of the year and best cast. Kristen Wiig will compete with Jennifer Lawrence for the popcorn-shaped trophy at the category of best actress. However, Wiig has more chances of getting an award home because she also received a nod for best comedic performance.
Other female celebrities who have been nominated as best actresses are Emma Stone, Emma Watson and Rooney Mara. It won’t be easier for Hutcherson to win a prize, either; in fact, the competition for the best actor is very strong as Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ryan Gosling received nods this year.
It will be interesting to see who will win the race for the best movie trophy. There are many big movies in the competition this year as “The Help”, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” as well as “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” have all been nominated. Unlike the previous year when this movie was nominated in 8 categories, “The Twilight Saga” received only two nods in 2012. One of the nominations is for the best kiss category.
I’m voting for The Hunger Games. GO KATNISS!
