How To Jailbreak iOS 6 On iPhone 3GS And 4

Although those of you that have invested in a brand new iPhone 5, or for that matter, even the iPhone 4S are still unable to jailbreak iOS 6, this is possible for three other devices in the Apple series.

Many of those who bought iPhone 4S now have been waiting for more than enough to jailbreak iOS 6 on their smartphones. Unfortunately, jailbreaking iOS 6 on iPhone 5 and 4S is still not possible and the general advice is to keep waiting. However, people with older versions of Apple’s smartphone can jailbreak iOS 6.

Whereas jailbreaking iOS 6 on iPhone 5 and 4S is harder, older devices have already been “hacked into”. Redmond Pie writes that the Redsn0w iPhone jailbreaking software works just fine for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch. Developed by the iPhone Dev-Team (not associated with Apple in any way), the Redsn0w iOS 6 jailbreaking software will have your smartphone ready to use beyond the company’s standard limitations.

To jailbreak iOS 6 on iPhone 3GS and 4 all you have to do is follow the guidelines on certified sites. That’s obviously not easy since jailbreaking iOS is still an “underground” thing. However, Redmond Pie and iPhone Dev-Team are sources that users have ruled to be worthy of confidence, after so many iPhone devices have been jailbroken successfully.

This time around, iPhone Dev-Team has released a jailbreak iOS 6 solution that makes the installation of Cydia a lot easier. For past versions, users would have to install the software manually, but the Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 software changes that. However, jailbreaking iOS with Cydia means you are going to have to keep your iPhone connected to a computer to restart.

As soon as you have backed up your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 data and upgraded to iOS 6 you are ready to download the latest version of Redsn0w. You will find a complete guide on how to install iOS 6 on your smartphone on the Redmond Pie website. The next step is to extract the downloaded file to your desktop and run the Redsn0w software.

When you have connected your iPhone smartphone to your computer a window will pop up. Just click on “Jailbreak and install Cydia”. You will have to put your device into the DFU mode (search YouTube for tutorials on doing that) and then just follow the instructions the installation guide has.

Click “Just Boot” and your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 is jailbroken. This short guide on how to jailbreak iOS 6 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 is meant to show you how easy it is. For more information go check out the Redmond Pie guidelines.
