How Serious Is Melissa Gilbert’s Injury On Monday’s DWTS?

“Dancing With The Stars” isn’t exactly a show that can reveal exactly how hard it is for the contestants to prepare their routines nor the risks they’re subjected to each show and rehearsal. Melissa Gilbert got a bit more familiar with that part of the show on Monday’s DWTS when she suffered an injury. Despite finishing the dance and earning 22 points for the performance, we cannot help wonder exactly how serious is Melissa Gilbert’s injury.

Contestants at DWTS have prepared for the Rock Week with intensity. On Monday night’s performance show, everyone tried to make the best of it and show the jury they have what it takes to win the show. But for one contestant in particular things were a lot more difficult than expected.

Melissa Gilbert, the actress that starred as a child in the “Little House on the Prairie” suffered an injury while dancing with partner Maksim Chmerkowskiy on White Stripes’ song “Conquest”. Although she took quite a bad fall, that didn’t stop her from continuing the performance and the jury appreciated the moment. Judge Bruno Tonioli said that was Gilbert’s “best performance by far”. But, still.

The injury came after her partner slipped while the actress was lowered to the floor in preparing for a spin. But the coordinates were wrong, because Melissa ended up hitting the floor like an airplane. While many of you at home might reckon the head injury wasn’t particularly strong, the actress soon claimed she felt dizzy. Host Tom Bergeron said that Melissa suffered “a mild concussion”.

Gavin DeGraw , fellow dancer, helped Melissa out of the building and on to the stretcher and ambulance. He said: “She injured herself, and as a precaution she’s gone to the hospital to get checked out”.

At the hospital, Melissa was advised by her doctor to take “a rest day and if they get through tonight she’ll be able to compete going forward”. So, on Tuesday, Melissa missed the show, but as she and her partner escaped from elimination, we can only expect her to perform in next week’s show.

Following the appointment with her doctor, Melissa tweeted: “I’m alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of”.
