Fiona Apple Cancels Concert In Texas Over Hash Arrest

85 miles east of El Paso, there is the tiny town of Sierra Blanca where stars carrying drugs are immediately busted. Fiona Apple had to cancel a concert in Texas over a hash arrest in the very same tiny town of Hudspeth County.

There’s two things the Sierra Blanca town is famous for says E!, that is drug trafficking and celebrity trafficking. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection checkpoint set in Sierra Blanca has an A-list of celebrities arrested for drug possession. Fiona Apple is the last one to make it to the list after she was arrested Sept. 19 for carrying hashish and cannabis.

Earlier this week, Fiona Apple’s 2004 tour bus entered the tiny town of Sierra Blanca, in Texas. The officers with the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint decided to perform a routing check on Fiona Apple’s tour bus using drug-sniffing dogs.

During their check, police officers discovered in Fiona Apple’s tour bus a blue backpack containing the staggering amount of .02 pounds of weed and hash. TMZ explains that the .01 pound of “weed is equivalent to the size of a baseball…and the hash is equivalent to the size of a golf ball”.

“Little Miss Fiona, last night her bus rolls in here, and the god hits the smell of pot from outside of the bus” officer Rusty Fleming with the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office told E!. “We searched the bus and found it in a sealed glass container inside of a backpack way in the back of the bus. That’s a pretty sensitive dog” he added.

Fiona Apple told the officers the cannabis and hashish were hers and then she was arrested. The 35-year-old singer spent the night at the Hudspeth County Jail and was released in the morning after she paid a $10,000 bond.

If Fiona Apple had carried only marijuana, she could have walked away only with a ticked. “But she had hashish, and in Texas, having any amount is a felony” added public information officer Rusty Fleming.

Since the hash arrest had her spending the night in jail, Fiona Apple had to cancel a concert in Texas. Thursday night, the “Criminal” singer was set to play at the Moody Theater in Austin and according to the theater the concert will take a place at a later date.
