Reality show stars have a thing for short marriages and Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson didn’t even make the two months mark. Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson aka Ochocinco are getting a divorce after the football star allegedly head-butted his wife.
Over the weekend, Chad Johnson’s life changed in a glimpse. He got arrested over a simple domestic battery misdemeanor charge, the Dolphins cut him from the team, his reality show got pulled off the network and now his wife Evelyn Lozada is filing for divorce.
Michael B. Gilden, rep for Evelyn Lozada, confirmed she was getting a divorce from Chad Johnson. “Given the recent events that have taken place, Evelyn has decided to file for divorce and move on with her life”, Lozada’s rep said in a statement for “The Insider”.
Earlier this week, TMZ was reporting that Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson got into an argument over a box of condoms or a receipt for condoms found in the wide receiver’s car. Chad Johnson reacted aggressively and apparently head-butted his wife. The police officer who eventually arrested Chad Johnson said Lozada had a three-inch gash on her forehead.
The Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson marriage lasted only 41 days. The VH1 reality show stars didn’t even make it for two months before filing for divorce. It’s hardly the shortest celebrity marriage or the most controversial. Truth be told, a lot of people saw it coming.
Chad Johnson reacted to Evelyn Lozada’s divorce statement on his website. He tried to reaffirm his love for the VH1 star, but likely without much success. At least for now. Just one day after the arrest, Chad Johnson was forbidden to make any contact to his wife, Evelyn Lozada.
“I am going to let the legal process run its course. I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much” reads Chad Johnson’s statement.
“I will continue to be positive and stay training hard for another opportunity in the NFL” said Chad Johnson of being kicked off the Dolphins team. “I appreciate all my fans and supporters and if I have disappointed you in any way, you have my sincerest apologies” he added.
