You have got to hand it to them: celebrities and real estate are a spectacular combination. Tiger Woods’ ex wife, Elin Nordegren recently made the headlines for her surprising decision to take down a $12 million mansion only to make room to build her own.
In March last year, right after she got the $100 million divorce settlement from golf star Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren bought 9,000 square foot North Palm Beach home. The mansion, worth $12 million, had six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, among other functions, but for Elin that wasn’t enough.
Therefore, she took the obvious decision to demolish the beautiful mansion and build her dream house. Elin Nordegren wants a home that will be large enough for her and her family. According to TMZ, Nordegren has hired a high priced architect and asked every single worker to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Although there aren’t many details regarding exactly how the new house will look like or how long the project is expected to take, TMZ reports that Elin is living in a nearby mansion inside a private community. She is said to be living in the ocean front development San Remo condominiums in Juno Beach.
The Palm Beach Post writes in its online edition that the mansion Elin demolished is a 17,000 square foot house, built in 1932. It has an in-ground pool and an elevator and according to True, owner of Oceanfront Realty in Juno Beach, the property is in the exclusive Seminole Landing development near North Palm Beach. This 77- acre development is among the top five most exclusive communities in Palm Beach County.
Realtor John True told The Palm Beach Post the original mansion “was a beautiful place”, with “incredible landscaping, fantastic ocean frontage”. He said that “the original plan was to renovate. But once they started, I heard they decided to tear it down”.
Currently, Elin Nordegren, Tiger Woods’ ex wife, has the custody of their two young children and is dating billionare Jamie Dingman. Back in 2011, their friends said that Jamie “has never been so happy. He and Elin have strong feeling for each other”.
