Based on a recent report published by E! Online, actress Drew Barrymore and her husband Will Kopelman welcomed their first daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, last Wednesday. The happy family released a statement announcing that the mother and her newborn baby are healthy.

Drew Barrymore has been through a lot of changes in the last year. She got engaged and married Will Kopelman after the two found out they were going to have a baby. The actress has been constantly in the media’s attention due to her wedding preparations and her growing baby bump and now the time has come for the actress to announce the arrival of her first child.

Drew and Will released a statement on Monday letting the world know that Olive Barrymore Kopelman was born on September 26 and she was kindheartedly welcomed by the entire family. The two concluded their declaration by thanking the media for respecting their wish for privacy.

Drew did not provide any explanation as to why she decided to name her daughter Olive. Back in 1995, she told the Rolling Stone that she wanted to have a daughter named Ruby Daffodil, but her 1999 TV special “Olive, The Other Reindeer” might have influenced her in choosing this last name.

Drew and Will said “I Do” on June 2, during a private ceremony that was held at her Montecito, California residence. The newly wedded couple headed to Big Sur for their honeymoon and returned just in time to make preparations for the arrival of the child. A few weeks, ago, Barrymore proved everyone that she is an active mommy when she was spotted practicing yoga and walking around the town.

The “Charlie’s Angels” star plans to have other children with her husband, Will, in the future. She told Jay Leno in an interview she released in February that for the moment she is focusing on her first child. She then, added that it would be wonderful if she and her husband were to be blessed with other children, as well.
