She’s a huge fan! Drew Barrymore has seen Dakota Johnson’s live chat with Ellen DeGeneres about the infamous birthday celebration she attended, and she loved the interview.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star who is 32 was an interviewer on the Thursday episode, October 7, of The Drew Barrymore Show, in which she spoke about with her friends Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney.
“They have a lot of parties and they don’t invite me,” the Suspiria star said and co-founder of Flower Films, 46, responded: Flower Films cofounder, 46 said, “Is this for real? Because some people have gotten into the news for claiming they were not invited to your events.”
Barrymore was in reference to Johnson’s November 19th, 2019 appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The show turned into a storm due to an exchange that the 63-year-old comedian engaged in alongside the High Note star.
In the course of the episode, DeGeneres claimed that Johnson didn’t attend her daughter’s birthday celebration held in the month of October the year.
“Actually, no, that’s not the truth, Ellen,” stated the actress whom is the mother of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. “You were invited. The last time I appeared on the show in the past, you told me a lot of s–t for not inviting me, but I didn’t know that you were interested in being invited. I didn’t know that how much you were a fan of me!”
DeGeneres on her own stated that she was unsure what she thought the Bigger Splash star thought that. “Of course I like you,” the Emmy winner added. “You already knew that I loved you. You’ve appeared on the show numerous times, so why do you think I’m not a show-off?”
Dakota insists she invited to the host of the show who did not show up. “Ask everybody,” she said to DeGeneres. “Ask Jonathan, your producer.”
One of the show’s staffers verified they had confirmed that they had confirmed that the Golden Globe winner had been invited to the event, DeGeneres claimed that she may have experienced some “thing” that prevented her from being able to attend. “It was probably in Malibu,” she added. “That’s too far for me to go to.”
The situation got more awkward in the episode when Finding Nemo star asked her guest about Tig Notaro’s performance at the event.
“She’s my favorite comedian,” Dakota added and added the words “other than you” after the audience broke in the crowd of “aw’s.” The Texas native then stood up and pretend to walk away from the stage, as DeGeneres laughed that her top actress was Jennifer Aniston.
When Barrymore inquired of Dakota about the moment Thursday when she was interviewed, Dakota, the Peanut Butter Falcon star burst out laughing and changed into to a vibrant red. “That was amazing, by the way,” the Wildflower author said about the interview. “Like, amazing.”
