With most rich people, it’s all about building larger and getting bigger revenues. Donald Trump might be a flamboyant figure, but he’s a damn wealthy one, rich enough to influence market shifts and consumer opinion. In a recent Facebook page message, Donald Trump spoke on behalf of all Apple investors urging Apple to build a larger-screen iPhone to reduce the competitive edge Samsung has been enjoying lately.
Investors have been crying over the Steve Jobs era as Apple stocks have plunged. All of them are now concerned the next big thing Apple rolls out will not be big enough in a market where premium smartphone technology has become a lot more affordable. The Apple Maps fiasco also hasn’t helped put their minds at ease. Now it has become obvious there are better products out there than Apple’s and it’s something even the more committed Apple fans have been seeing. Donald Trump speaks on their behalf when he urges Apple to get back on track, act fast and come up with a product that has a larger screen.
“I have a lot of @Apple stock — and I miss Steve Jobs” reads Donald Trump’s Facebook page status message. “Tim Cook must immediately increase the size of the screen on the iPhone. It should be slightly larger than the Samsung screen – and they better get it right fast because they will lose a lot of business” the 66-year-old billionaire adds.
All analysts believe Apple needs to either release a cheaper iPhone/iPad or come up with a bigger iPhone screen. But that’s something Tim Cook buried in a recent conference, when he said Apple is not going to release a jumbo-sized iPhone just to keep up with the trend in the smartphone market. I’d argue that’s exactly the opposite when it came down to iPad mini.
“Our competitors have made some significant tradeoffs in many of these areas to ship a larger display” said Tim Cook referring to sacrifices made with some large-screen products that miss a good color quality, resolution, power consumption, portability and compatibility of apps.
