The British said it first (Skyfall premiered in UK before US): Daniel Craig is the best James Bond EVER. But that is something that has to do not just with his acting performance alone; we’re talking production, image and screenplay.
It’s hard to put through comparison Sir Roger Moore and Sean Connery’s James Bond performances when 2012’s 007 agent has so many tricks up his sleeve. “Skyfall” is the movie when Daniel Craig finally owns the James Bond character with an acting performance that has pundits, critics and former James Bonds agreeing that’s the best they’ve ever seen.
When the British first saw “Skyfall” they were amazed. Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem received great reviews. But the US pundits weren’t all that convinced that “Skyfall” would be the best James Bond movie ever, until the premiere. Now, everybody is talking about the new movie, the characters, the story, the action, the director, the music…Oh, it’s just a list that never ends.
“This is Bond like you’ve never seen him, almost Freudian in his vulnerability. And a dynamite Daniel Craig, never better in the role, nails Bond’s ferocity and feeling” writes Peter Travers with the Rolling Stone about “Skyfall”. “Mortality lurks in the shadows as Craig digs deep into Bond’s past. Citizen Kane had his Rosebud. Bond has his Skyfall” the review reads.
Director Sam Mendes was highly praised too. “In ‘Skyfall’, Mendes has given us a thrilling new chapter in a franchise that by all rights should have been gasping for air – which really makes him the hero of this saga” writes Betsy Sharkey for Los Angeles Times. “Saving Bond, after all, is rather like saving the day” she concludes her review.
And yes, it’s true Daniel Craig is the best James Bond EVER and “Skyfall” is an amazing action movie. Sir Roger Moore agrees. In an interview for TIME, Roger Moore confessed Sean Connery isn’t his favorite James Bond anymore, Daniel Craig took his place. “I think that he [Daniel Craig] is the Bon. He’s quite brilliant. I wrote to Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [Wilson] and said… they’ve guaranteed Bond another 50 years of life” he added.
This review makes me even more excited to see it. Daniel Craig is totally my favorite James Bond. A couple of my DISH co-workers and I have been talking about going to see Skyfall together for a long time now. We’re actually having a Daniel Craig Bond night before we go to the theater. I rented Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace from Blockbuster @ Home, which I have through my DISH account. It’s so convenient for me to just have the DVDs mailed to me since I never have time to go rent movies at the store these days. It’s been a while since I’ve seen those movies, so I’m looking forward to refreshing my memory.
