LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – Actor Christian Bale agreed to disclose the first pieces of information about the offer he received for the new movie “Child 44”. The flick has many chances of becoming a hit considering that it will be produced by Scott Free Productions and directed by Daniel Espinosa.
Scott Free Productions contacted actor Christian Bale for a new movie offer on Tuesday. Even though the news hasn’t been confirmed yet, a source close to the matter has declared that Bale will star in director Daniel Espinosa’s new film “Child 44”. According to their statement, the actor agreed with the terms imposed by the production house and accepted the role he was offered.
“Child 44” tells the story of a member of the Soviet military police who gets caught up in the investigation of a series of child murders. Leo Demidov, the character that will be interpreted by Christian Bale, triggers the government’s suspicion and paranoia as he tries to solve the mystery of the children’s deaths. The film “Child 44” is based on the British novelist Tom Rob Smith’s book of the same name. Smith told the press that the idea for the novel came to him after reading about the Ukrainian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, who was executed for 52 murders. This is the first book of his trilogy exploring the impact that Stalin has had on the Soviet Union. Depending on the success of this movie, producers may agree to make film versions of the other two novels, as well.
Sources further added that the script of the movie is written by Richard Price. Unlike other productions signed by Daniel Espinosa, “Child 44” will no longer be created with the collaboration of Lionsgate or Summit. Espinosa’s previous works have been well-received by international film goers. He was critically acclaimed for the movies “Snabba Cash” and the Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds action film “Safe House”.
