Glee actor Chris Colfer is leaving the Glee series this year. He said he was not aware of these plans but he agrees with them. Two other stars will follow in his footsteps: Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, Los Angeles Times reports.
The kids from Glee are about to graduate and move on. Kurt, Finn and Rachel, played by Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele, will graduate in the Season 3 of the series, after the senior year. After this, they will say goodbye to Glee whether they like it or not.
“It’s definitely not my choice to leave the show, but I understand it’s the right choice”, Chris Colfer said to Awards Tracker on Thursday. He believes that it is the unicity of the show that needs the dynamics: “To have the character grow up and leave and graduate, it’s the right thing to do. I think it’s more of a big deal because not too many shows have ever done it before,” he explained.
The reality of the show did not hit only Colfer, but Michele as well. On late Wednesday she posted on her Twitter page a message saying “We always knew we’d graduate in real time. It’s all part of the plan and it’s all good! It’s going to make Season 3 amazing”
Last year, Chris Cofer took home an Emmy Award for Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy. This year, he has another Emmy nomination and has started several new projects that will expand his career. He signed a contract for a book and is going to write a pilot episode for the Disney Chanel. At only 21 years old, Colfer was voted one of the Time’s 100 most influential people. Now he is on tour for the summer.
Talking to TV Line he says that touring this years is a lot crazier than last year. “Take last year’s tour and multiply it by a thousand”. He explains that in 2011 the audience is a lot larger. “The biggest venue we played at last year was a 5,000-seat theater, and now we’re selling out 17,000-seat arenas.”
Colfer admits that he is overtired but says that the crowd at the concerts gives him plenty of energy to go on. “There’s nothing like walking into an arena and everyone screaming at you” he tells TV Line.
For the last season of Glee, Colfer unveils that Kurt’s plans involve Blaine.
