This Monday, Barbara Walters released a preview of her long time televised compilation of ten public figures that were prominent in 2012. This year, Chris Christie and One Direction are on Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People list.
Barbara Walters’ popular series is at its 20th season this year, and as usually, it features quite an interesting mix of people. The Number One Most Fascinating Person of 2012 is still unknown, but from the preview released this Monday, this year’s list features people such as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, EL James, the writer of “Fifty Shades of Grey” and One Direction.
We get why Chris Christie and EL James made the list, but what about One Direction?! Is it because the British boy band is a fan of the swoon face, or did they make the list based on album sales alone? The band’s album “Take Me Home” sold over 500,000 units within its first week. Sure, they’re teenage heartbreakers, but so are Justin Bieber and The Jonas Brothers. And all of them are worth exactly the same thing when it comes to wisdom and cultural enrichment: somewhere next to zero.
While the One Direction Barbara Walters special will be watched only by teenager girls, the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012 list does feature some promising interviews. Governor Chris Christie was highly praised for how he dealt with the Sandy damage in New Jersey and for joining forces with president Obama at a time all Republicans were out to get him. So, that’s going to be an interesting interview.
Also on Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People list is EL James, the writer of the insanely popular ”Fifty Shades of Grey” novel. The erotic trilogy became a best-seller in no time, as the media worldwide took it viral. “I wrote it for me and I think of it as a passionate love story. It’s a fairy tale. It’s kind of Beauty and the Beast mixed with Cinderella… and it has some spicy kinky sex in it” the writer said of her saucy book.
Olympian Gabby Douglas will also be interviewed by Barbara Walters. The teenager became highly popular after winning gold medals in all-round competitions at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
