New dad Nick Cannon is very happy these days. And shouldn’t he be? He has two beautiful baby twins, a girl and a boy, which are both healthy and already famous. The much mediatized pregnancy and birth of pop star icon and his wife, Mariah Carey has kept the public focused every second.
Just a few days ago, Mariah gave birth to a baby girl and a baby boy which were both in very good state. Carey’s representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the births to the Associated Press, saying the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 lbs. 3 oz., and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 lbs. 6 oz., and was 19 inches.
Enthusiastic dad Nick Cannon, 30, tweeted that same day the following message: “I am in the happiest place I’ve ever been in my life. I never had more amazing things happening. I am humbled by God’s Favor”.
So it’s no wonder that now he already thought about some nicknames to the little ones. He says (on Twitter again): “ROC & ROE! LET’S GO!”
Roc is the nickname for the baby boy, who’s full name is Moroccan Scott Cannon. The couple explains that Scott is Nick’s middle name and Moroccan was inspired by the room called Moroccan room (because of the décor) in the top tier of the diva’s apartment in New York City. It is also the room where cannon proposed to Carey.
Roe comes from the baby girls name, Monroe. The girl doesn’t have a middle name because, they say, mom Mariah doesn’t have one either. But Monroe makes up for it. It is inspired by the ‘50s diva Marilyn Monroe, which was always an icon for Mariah.
In fact, she even purchased Marilyn Monroe’s white piano from Christie’s auction house and it is in Mariah’s will that the piano will one day go to the Smithsonian.
Mariah is still in the hospital with the babies, while TV show host Nick Cannon takes a break every once in a while, but just for the necessary matters.
The couple has done one other romantic and eccentric thing these days. Just one day after the cesarian section and the baby delivery, they have called Rev Al. Sharpton, a civil rights activist to hold a ceremony in which they renewed their wedding vows. They do this every year in May and this time it happened in the hospital. But when there’s love …
