Is there something Beyonce can’t do? Beyonce will direct an HBO documentary about herself. Next February, HBO will premiere the feature-length documentary about Beyonce with the artist being both director and actor.
Beyonce is one of the most glamorous celebrities and music artists, with a life so many wish to have. She won 16 Grammy awards and is a successful businesswoman, mom and wife to the other royal head of New York City, Jay Z. Together they have a life worthy of a movie. But Beyonce alone, the story of her ascension to success, her glamorous curvy look and fashion taste are of a huge appeal for fans.
“Everybody knows Beyonce’s music, but few know Beyonce the person” Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming explained during the announcement for the upcoming HBO Documentary on Beyonce, by Beyonce, with Beyonce. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyonce onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman” said Michael Lombardo.
The HBO documentary on Beyonce will premiere February 16, 2013 on the premium cable channel and will tell the story of Beyonce’s childhood, career and life as a mother. The R&B singer will be the director of the “multi-faceted portrait of the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer, businesswoman, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, wife and mother”.
Beyonce is thrilled about the HBO documentary too. “HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity. Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming” Beyonce said of the collaboration. “This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home” she concluded.
According to HBO’s announcement, the Beyonce documentary will be “a fusion of video that provides raw, unprecedented access to the private entertainment icon and high-voltage performances”. But you will also see “the intense physical and emotional demands she goes through in the studio, preparing for live performances, running a business and her family life, including her return to the spotlight after the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter”.
