Cards have already been dealt for the biggest sports event in the United States as Beyoncé was selected to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show. The singer communicated the news to her fans by posting a picture of her wearing eye black and the official date of the Super Bowl, February 3, 2013, according to Reuters.
As is the custom, the Super Bowl halftime concert must be hosted by one of the greatest pop singers in America. This time, it was Beyoncé’s turn to evince her strong vocal abilities as the organizers have selected her to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show which will be hosted at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, on February 3, 2013.
Beyoncé Knowles is one of the most appreciated pop artists at present. She received 16 Grammy Awards since the beginning of her solo career and delighted fans with hits, such as, “Crazy in Love”, “”Irreplaceable” and the most recent “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”. This is not the first time when rapper Jay-Z’s wife will walk up the Super Bowl stage to perform. She also hosted a concert in 2004 during the Super Bowl competition when the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers.
Last year, organizers selected Madonna to sing for the NFL competition, but her performance was both praised and criticized by those who watched the show. CeeLo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A were the other artists who performed on the same stage with Madonna last year. The National Football League did not communicate the names of the other artists who will show up on stage in 2013. It is very likely, however, that Jay-Z and the former Destiny’s Child band mates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, could feature in the Super Bowl halftime concert.
New Orleans residents have many reasons to be happy as the Super Bowl competition returns to the city after 10 years. This will be the first NFL championship that will be hosted in the region since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Louisiana Superdome in 2005.
