Axl Rose Says No To Rock and Roll Hall Induction

It’s not exactly a big surprise that Axl Rose said no to his band’s induction into Rock and Roll Hall. Ever since the first rumors about the said event started making the news, a lot of people expected Axl Rose to have contradictorily points of views regarding the matter. Perhaps, some hoped he’d put aside the differences and join the band at its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

But as many have learned the acrimony that once separated Guns N’ Roses is still a sensitive issue for Axl. This Wednesday, the rock star announced that he is not going to show himself at the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The rock star presented his decision in a letter to band fans, the Hall and anybody else to whom it may concern.

As the letter reads, Axl Rose has quite a few reasons he thinks are considerable enough not to join his band at its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Among his varied reasons for not attending Saturday’s ceremony, Axl Rose mentioned that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is disrespectful towards him.

Perhaps, Axl Rose complaint that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does not respect him is linked to the hall’s previous statement that the rock star will be included in the ceremony, even if “he will not be able to accept his induction in person”. To that, Axl Rose wrote the following lines:

“I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf”.

Perhaps Axl Rose is a little bit childish hanging on to the past acrimony. Others seem to concede that it’s time to move on. Slash recently said: “Time to move on (…) Life doesn’t owe you your own personal happy ending especially at another’s, or in this case several others’ expense”.  Slash will attend Saturday’s event in Cleveland.

When first asked about his thoughts on Guns N’ Roses induction into the Rock Hall, Axl said he “was honored, excited and hoped that somehow this would be a good thing. Of course, if Guns N’ Roses were to be inducted it’d be somewhat of a complicated or awkward situation”.
