On Tuesday, the singer announced her engagement to Kroeger causing Twitter users to flood the social network with many messages.

Avril and her new fiancé have quickly decided to walk down the aisle together. Apparently, they have been together for only six months, but the two interpreters claim there is no reason for them to wait any longer. They are determined to follow their hearts even though some of the messages they received suggested them to reconsider their decision.

For one reason or another, fans find it hard to believe that the singer is involved in a relationship with the Nickleback frontman. The majority of them were surprised to hear the news, whereas the others posted amusing messages for the couple.

Avril met Chad for the first time in February when the two artists got together to co-write a song for Lavigne’s fifth studio album. A source told reporters that the two started having feelings for each other as they spent time writing the song. On August 8, Chad popped the question and surprised his girlfriend with a 14-carat diamond ring. The families of the two love birds hurried to congratulate them as soon as they heard the great news.

Lavigne has been married before. She walked down the aisle for the first time in 2006 with Deryck Whibley, but they got divorced three years later.
