Angelina Jolie to Face More Cancer Surgery

Unfortunately for Angelina Jolie, she will have to undergo more surgical procedures to eliminate the risk of cancer. However, the star claims to be happy with her decisions.

Angelina Jolie will undergo a new surgery, which will actually reduce her risk of ovarian cancer with no less than 80 percent. The surgery will remove her ovaries, Angelina said in a new interview with EW. “I’ll get advice from all these wonderful people who I’ve been talking to, to get through that next stage,” the star said.

This is the second surgery that the star will undergo. In February 2013, Angelina Jolie underwent a preventive double mastectomy. The actress’s decision to be submitted to this intervention came following several tests revealing that Angelina is a carrier of the BRCA1 gene, which increases the risk of suffering from breast cancer with 87 percent. The star underwent a preventive surgery, which reduced her risk of being diagnosed with this condition to under 5 percent.

However, the BRCA1 gene is also associated with a 50 percent chance of suffering from ovarian cancer. This is why the actress decided to undergo this second surgery, as well. Angelina Jolie underwent complex tests to determine the risk she has in suffering from this condition, after her mother, aunt, uncle, grandmother and grandfather all died from cancer.

Angelina Jolie claimed that she is doing well now and she actually is very happy with the decisions she took. Moreover, the singer claimed that she is very pleased with the fact that she made it all public, as she was able to raise awareness on the development of this serious condition.

“Wherever I go, usually I run into women and we talk about health issues, women’s issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I’ve talked to men about their daughters’ and wives’ health,” Angelina said during her latest interview, the star also claiming that this actually helps her feel closer to people who deal with similar problems.

The Oscar-winning actress lost her mother to ovarian cancer, who died at the age of only 56. This is why Angelina says that she perfectly understands both sufferers and their families, who are going through a terrible thing.
