The torch is passed! Prior to the launch of the Amazon Prime’s I Know What You Did This Summer TV show the original cast members of the first film offered their blessing to the brand new cast.
In a panel discussion held during New York Comic Con on the 8th of October the actors were informed that superfans would be coming by through video chat and asking them couple of questions about the new series. The fans proved to be Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt, all of whom appeared in the first film of 1997.
“I welcome all of you as the new generation of I Know What You Did Last Summer, and I know you guys are gonna do a great job repping it,” Prinze Jr. 45, said to the crew. The actor then asked the among them is the greatest actor on the set, since they were the ones “capable of pulling off pranks and scares on every single cast member” during the time filming the original.
Nobody confessed to any crimes, but Brianne Tju admitted that she often found herself on the receiving end of controversy from her fellow cast members. “I think everyone just picked on me,” she laughed. “I just get scared easily, so I’m an easy target.”

Gellar 44, who is her next celebrity guest walk on the actors, asking how they would react to “a killer haircut, or any other curveball a killer might throw” their way. This Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum was a friend of Prinze Jr. who she got married to in 2002 while filming the teen-slasher smash. The couple has a daughters Charlotte 11 and son Rocky 9.
Following Gellar’s appearance at the IKWYDLS show, the brand new IKWYDLS guard appeared a bit amazed.
“Honestly, I just feel honored,” Madison Iseman replied on the Scream 2 star’s question. “We’re very satisfied with this, and it comes from such a cult film and from an iconic universe. We feel extremely fortunate to be part of it. So having their approval is the most important part of amazing.”
Iseman Hewitt, 24, tremblingly asked if there were any other guests were arriving after which she was informed that Phillippe 47 and Hewitt 42, were the next guests to be announced.
“Hi, this is Ryan Phillippe, and I just wanna say I can’t wait for the series, and I know this new cast is gonna absolutely kill it — or be killed,” the Cruel Intentions star said. “I was. If I’ve learned anything from this experience, it’s that you need to be prepared to fight to the end of your rope, and especially in the event of an automobile chasing you, and you’re walking.”
In the last month, the Stop-Loss star told DailyGossip that the cast members he used to work with have been “super excited” about the new series. “Part of it makes you feel ancient,” said the actor. said. “The reality that they’re making projects that you’ve worked on. There’s a different part of you that’s pleased by this. The possibility that something you created has been able to stand the tests of time and is still being used and people love it and attracts new audiences every year, is cool.”
The 9-1-1 actress is, on her own she wished the cast members luck on the new show, stating her “excited” it’s finally hitting the screens of television. “If I was asked some time ago what I thought of it I would surely have responded, ‘What’re you waiting on, you ask? ‘” she quipped, referencing her famous line.
Much like the original film the new series is an adaptation of that 1973 Lois Duncan novel of the identical title, which tells the story of a group of teenagers who are a year old when a fatal accident in their lives changes their lives for the better. The show isn’t an attempt to make a sequel to the films but instead an update of the popular franchise.
The show I Know What You Did Last Summer premieres on Amazon Prime Friday, October 15.
