Amazon Adds File-Syncing Feature To Its Online Storage

The famous online retailer, Amazon announced on Tuesday that their online storage will be enriched with a new file-syncing feature to facilitate users’ access to their documents. Thanks to the Cloud Drive feature Amazon’s buyers will be able to upload and access their files from different devices, the Associated Press informs.

Many more companies rely on Google’s Cloud Service to keep their files in a safe place which they can later on access from all the devices they may be using. Following in their footsteps, Amazon revealed on Tuesday a new file-syncing feature to the visitors of their online stores. The company motivated their upgrade by saying that the new service will provide increased file protection for its customers and higher accessibility.

In case you are not familiar with Cloud Drive, the service is a desktop application for Windows and Mac that allows you to save files on an online account. These files will be available on the Internet all the time, so you can access them any time and any place using all your mobile devices. Amazon revealed that an Android Cloud Drive version for photo sharing will be added in addition to the desktop service we are already familiar with. A Web-based upload panel will be added for those Amazon users who don’t want to download the desktop application.

The idea of an online storage application is very promising, but there are some aspects that still need improvement. Although developers claim the Cloud Drive service is safe and reliable, Google has dealt with numerous glitches in the past month. Most people complained that they were unable to access their online accounts and, thus, to manage their online files. Moreover, analysts claim the system is still vulnerable to hackers’ attack; therefore, it is too early for people to store all their files on online accounts.

The Cloud Drive desktop application that is now available on Amazon is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8, and Mac OS X versions 10.6 through 10.8. Only 5GB of storage capacity are delivered freely; users, who want to benefit of bigger packages, will have to choose different subscriptions whose value can amount to $500 for 1000GB.
